The Italian way of looping with knitting needles is perfect for cuffs and lower slats in elastic, which retain their elasticity after many washes and the frequent wearing of a knitted product. It is great to keep the shape - not the only quality of the product, connected in this way of a set of loops. The result of the Italian set of knitting needles is very beautiful, it is often confused with the perfect-looking machine knitting.
The pattern with the Italian set of loops on the needles is smooth and elastic. Professionals offer several ways of such knitting, which are perfect for both beginners and experienced knitters who definitely will not be bored in the process.
Italian knitting loop set - master class
What is the peculiarity of the Italian way of looping on the needles? First of all, there are several ways to knit loops with the Italian set, which allow you to get different versions of patterns, and at the same time offer different degrees of complexity of work:
- Italian set of loops with auxiliary thread;
- Italian set of loops without an auxiliary thread.
Knitting loops with an auxiliary thread is considered more complicated and interesting - three needles are used here, and an additional thread (or elastic thread) of a contrasting color, while knitting with an Italian set without an auxiliary thread is faster and more convenient - only one needle and one thread will be needed. The choice is yours.
If you choose knitting in the Italian way, both with and without an additional thread, you can get a rounded neat elastic edge, which is often knitted in the form of 1 × 1 elastic, double elastic and 2 × 2 elastic.
An important rule that should be followed in the Italian way of looping knitting needles: The first five rows should be knitted with needles for a full-length thinner than the main canvas gum.
With elastic edge
The Italian way of looping on the needles is really ideal for elastic edges cuff, neck or bottom knitted products, such as sweaters, jumpers, hats. It keeps its original shape for a long time and is convenient for circular knitting.
Consider a method that helps to get the most elastic edge - Italian method of looping with an auxiliary thread. You can call the final result with a 1 × 1 elastic band.
For this method, we prepare the primary color yarn and the auxiliary thread in a contrasting color. We will knit loops on two knitting needles.
Working process:
Contrast the thread dial on the needles half of the desired number of loops. More this thread is not needed, so it can be cut so as not to interfere with further work. Next we will knit the main color thread.
First row knit facial loops. You can also knit the edge loop, you do not need to remove it. This applies exclusively to the first row. In the future, the edge loops are removed, as usual - without knitting.
Second row - purl loops.
Third row - facial loops.
Knitting turn to work on fourth row. Edge off. The next loop is a purl. Then lift the loop from the 1st row broach, put it on the left knitting needle and knit the front one. The next loop is again a purl (it is already on the needle). Raise the loop from the 1st row again and knit it with the front one. And so on.
Thus, it is necessary to alternate: knit loops from the purses, and facial loops - from broaches. It is convenient to lift the loops using a hook or additional knitting needles.
The number of loops will double and reach the required calculated quantity. It looks like knitting at the end of the fourth row.
Fifth row knit as loops lie, i.e. purl is knitted with purl, and facial loops are facial. Formed 1x1 gum.
Knit 1x1 rubber band following rows to obtain the desired height.
Auxiliary thread to dissolve and pull out of knitting. She is no longer needed.
Beautiful cruciform
A cross-shaped set of loops with knitting needles is perfect for finishing the edge of a knitted product. A denser edge, made with cruciform loops, perfectly decorates a thing. This method, also called the “Bulgarian Initiation”, requires a special set of loops.
Knitting scheme and progress of work:
To perform this set of loops, the thread going from the coil is folded three times, and the length of the triple thread must be about three times longer than the width of the part. We place the thread on the fingers of the left hand, the triple thread from the ball hangs down from the thumb, and the thread coming from the ball from the index finger. Put the knitting needles together into a loop, as shown in photo 1.
We press the threads with the forefinger of the right hand to the spokes and form the first loop, grabbing the triple thread from the outside of the thumb of the left hand (photos 2 and 3).
We form the second loop by grabbing a triple thread from the inside of the thumb of the left hand. To do this, the position of the triple loop on the thumb of the left hand needs to be changed: drop the thread and immediately pick it up on the opposite side of the finger (photo 4).
Gathering loops alternately from the outer and from the inner side of the thumb of the left hand (which is why the method is called cruciform), we obtain a series of loops, which are arranged on the spokes in pairs. Cross shaped dialing the front side is shown in photo 5.
Then each loop of the pair is knitted with a face or purl, depending on the pattern that will be used to make the product.
For 2x2 gum
An Italian set of loops with knitting needles for a 2x2 gum starts to knit like a 1 × 1 elastic band, complementing later with several important manipulations.
For this set of loops you will need 1 pair of knitting needles with a number that will be knitted by an elastic band. Form the first loop on the needle. Place the thread on the index finger and the end of the thread on the thumb of your left hand. The needle with a loop is located in the middle.
Working process:
Put the knitting needle under the thread on the thumb, and then grab the thread from under it, on the index finger. Stretch the needle movement towards you, on the needle formed a loop that resembles a facial loop.
Move the needle away from yourself and down under the thread going to the index finger and grab the thread going to the thumb from under it. Formed a loop that resembles a purl.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have reached the required number of loops. The penultimate loop loop should look like a purl. To consolidate dialed loops, dial the last loop, as in the usual type. For a 1x1 elastic, dial an even number of loops; for a 2x2 elastic, dial the number of loops, a multiple of 4 plus 2 edge loops.
First row knit hollow rubber band. Edge remove, and the next loop knit front of the back wall. The purse loop following it is removed, without knitting, the working thread passes before work. Repeat until the end of the row. The last, edge loop is knitted front of the front wall.
Knit the second row of a hollow gum. In this case, facial knit for the front wall, and purl removed, not tying, the thread before work.
Next, knit gum with the same number of spokes. For 1x1 gum we knit, as the loops look: above the face ones - the front loops, over the back ones - the back loops.
For 2x2 gum, we knit the first row as follows. After edge knit the first front loop.
The next purl loop and the face loop following it are swapped. And then knit facial loop face.
We knit further 2 standing side loops. And then knit 1 facial loop face.
Repeat steps 9 and 10 until the end of the row. At the end of a row we knit 2 purl and edging.
