Each summer resident is engaged in the cultivation of tomatoes. Everyone is trying to sow, pee, and fertilize their seedlings in time, which then enjoy delicious homemade tomatoes. In addition, any gardener learns various methods of growing favorite varieties to get as much crop as possible. One of them is the Chinese way of growing tomatoes.
What is the advantage of the Chinese method?
In the country of the rising sun, this method has been used for a long time, although it came to us relatively recently. Not many gardeners have tested it. However, everyone who introduced this technology of growing tomatoes in their area, were satisfied with the result. Harvest really pleased.
The advantages of the Chinese method of growing tomatoes are as follows:
• seedlings are ready for planting a month or a half earlier than the rest;
• plants are less sick;
• 100% survival after a dive;
• tall tomatoes are not so stretched after landing in the ground;
• 1.5 times increase the yield.
And this is not all the pluses. By the time of planting in the soil, the tomatoes have well-developed thick stems, they do not need to be deeply buried in the soil, since the first flower brush will be at a height of 20-25 cm from the ground. This contributes to the formation of a larger number of ovaries that have time to ripen, which increases the yield.
How to grow tomatoes in the Chinese way
The cultivation of tomatoes by this method begins with sowing seeds, which has its own characteristics.
1. Sowing is planned at a time when the moon is waning and is in the sign of Scorpio.
2. Seeds are processed in specially prepared solutions.
3. A picking of seedlings is done in a month, also in the sign of Scorpio.
Selected seeds of your favorite varieties are subjected to special processing two days before planting.
Seed preparation
Seeds are soaked in different solutions, wrapping them in a damp cloth.
1. For three hours, planting material is placed in an extract from ash.
2. Then stand for 20 minutes in a solution of potassium permanganate.
3. Next, the seeds are kept warm for 12 hours in Epin's solution.
4. Place day bags of seeds in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator.
An extract from ash is prepared according to the following recipe:
• 2 tbsp. l ashes;
• 1 liter boiling water.
Pour boiling water with ash and insist for a day. Then place the selected seeds in this solution.
After three hours, the water is drained from the container, and the seeds are immersed in a strong solution of potassium permanganate, where they stand for 20 minutes. Further, the seeds are washed, changing water several times, and wrapped in cloth bags.
In small saucers, the Epin solution is poured, bags of seeds are placed in it and kept according to the instructions. Then squeeze the bags a little and put them in the refrigerator.
Advice! To stratify the seeds, they can be placed in a plastic container and dug in the snow.
Then carry out the sowing of tomatoes in a prepared soil.
Sowing seeds according to the Chinese method
Seedling containers are filled with soil mixture and watered with a hot solution of potassium permanganate. Seeds are taken out of the refrigerator and sown immediately, that is, they are sown cold.
If several different varieties of tomatoes are harvested, then each variety is taken out in turn so that the seeds do not have time to heat up.
Containers with seeds are covered with glass or a bag, creating greenhouse conditions for tomatoes. In addition, all pots need to be cleaned in a darkened, warm place.
Advice! Place seed containers on the floor near the battery. So they will receive the necessary heat and enough light.
Five days later, the packages can be removed. At this point, the seeds should sprout. The containers are moved closer to the light so that the seedlings do not stretch out.
Important with this method of growing seedlings is the difference between day and night temperatures. To ensure the required temperature, seedlings are put into a colder room for the night or cleaned on the floor.
The most important thing in this method is the lunar phases. The Chinese believe that planting and sowing seeds on a waning moon stimulates good root formation, which significantly affects the state of seedlings.
Growing tomato seedlings in the Chinese way: pick + photo
A month later, when the tomatoes grew a little, and the moon is again in Scorpio, they are picking seedlings. At this point, they have two pairs of real leaves. Pick-up is carried out in a special way, as in the photo.
1. Cut the plant at ground level under cotyledon leaves.
2. Immediately land in new cups that are pre-filled with earth.
3. Water a little and cover the seedlings with a bag.
4. Remove containers with spiked seedlings in a dark and cold place for several days.
5. Next, grow in a bright room.
For picking and growing tomatoes, it is necessary to use purchased neutral soil, which is made on the basis of peat. If you peel tomatoes into the garden earth with the addition of humus, then the effect will be the opposite - all plants will hurt. This is due to the fact that humus infects plants with putrefactive bacteria. After a pick or landing in the ground, the microbes will immediately begin to act. No spraying will save the tomatoes.
Why cut a plant with scissors, and not dive in the usual way?
This is done in order not to transfer all possible sores that remained in the ground and seeds into new containers. As a result, seedlings get sick less, grows healthy and strong.
Important! For a pick, pots of about 100 ml are selected. If necessary, then carry out transshipment in larger containers.
Seedling Care
Seedlings need light, sometimes you have to specially illuminate containers with a lamp. With this method of growing seedlings will not stretch.
If the room is very hot and the seedlings are stretched, it is better to clean it for the night in cool. You can spray the plants with the Athlete preparation, which slows down the growth somewhat.
After picking, it is necessary to loosen the soil mixture in glasses, otherwise the roots will not breathe, it will negatively affect the state of the tomatoes.
Watering of tomatoes takes place according to the norm and the degree of drying of the earth. About 1 tbsp is consumed per 100 ml of water. l For a larger capacity tank, the amount of water is calculated based on this norm. With such an organization of watering, tomatoes practically do not get a black leg.
The first time tomatoes are fed 10 days after planting in the ground. For this, organic preparations such as Baikal are used.
The second time they feed tomatoes when the third brush is tied. For this, mineral fertilizers with boron content, for example, Magbor, are scattered around the holes.
If the third flower brush crumbles, then this indicates an excess of nitrogen!
How to form a bush by growing tomatoes in the Chinese way
Seedlings are planted in early May, but it depends on the growing region and the weather. However, it was noticed that even when the summer was rainy, not a single bush fell ill with late blight.
After planting seedlings, when the tomatoes started to grow and began to build up stepsons, then you need to take up the formation of a bush.
Tall tomatoes grown in this way form into two stems. At the same time, the yield is normalized so that the brushes do not break off. Do not spare and tear off all the brushes, leaving only the first 6 on one plant. All that is higher depletes the plant and reduces yield. Tomatoes will be small, and will not ripen for a long time. Due to such normalization of the crop, many large and juicy tomatoes can be grown.
