Autumn and winter seasons - it is at these times of the year that our immunity is the weakest, which increases a person's exposure to many serious ailments. And one of the most dangerous among them is cancer. Stacy Kennedy, a senior nutritionist at the Boston Institute Dana-Farber, who specializes in studying this serious illness, based on many years of experience, gave her recommendations on how each of us can protect our body from cancer with the help of food available to all of us.

So, the first remedy for cancer prevention, which the nutritionist advised to resort to, is an apple - a fruit, certainly worthy of being considered a real storehouse of useful properties. Several studies at the Dana Farber Institute aimed at studying this fruit have shown that an apple can significantly reduce our susceptibility to cancer of the breast, throat, mouth, lung, and colon. By the way, it is necessary to eat it at least once a day and exclusively with the peel, due to the fact that it contains the bulk of the beneficial substances of the apple.

The next cancer-preventing product is cranberries. Its benzoic acid can prevent lung cancer, colon cancer and several forms of leukemia. In addition, the berry provides good protection against bladder infections and even caries.

No less accessible and common products that prevent cancer are colorful vegetables, such as, for example, beets, parsnips or carrots. "The brighter and richer the color of vegetables, the more anticancer nutrients they have," Kennedy notes. The nutritionist also advised including them in as many dishes as possible.

Another type of vegetable with anti-cancer properties is leafy vegetables. These include cabbage and Brussels sprouts, as well as broccoli. People who eat these foods are less likely to develop cancer of their stomach, prostate, oral cavity, and lung.

An important and especially effective tool in the prevention of cancer are substances called carotenoids. Related studies have shown that people who eat foods that they include are more protected against breast, lung, colon and prostate cancer. Carotenoids are found in carrots, pumpkins and potatoes.
